Betronic enters into partnership with UNICEF
and helps children in Côte d’Ivoire by supporting UNICEF in the construction of schools
Amsterdam – Betronic is helping UNICEF to provide education to children in Côte d’Ivoire through the innovative Plastic Bricks project. By recycling plastic, plastic bricks for classrooms are made. With this partnership, the company joins UNICEF Business Buddies.
UNICEF Business Buddies is a concept that connects companies to the work of UNICEF. “We are very happy with Betronic’s contribution,” said Joliene Heimgartner of UNICEF Netherlands. “Thanks to the support of Dutch companies such as Betronic, we are ensuring that more children in Côte d’Ivoire can go to school, and at the same time that other problems in the country are addressed.”
Building blocks for the future
The Plastic Bricks project does not only stimulate education for more children in Côte d’Ivoire. Work is also being done to improve the environment. Côte d’Ivoire has a huge waste problem. The capital Abidjan produces 288,000 kilos of plastic waste every day. UNICEF has some of this recycled into plastic bricks, which are used to build school classrooms. Currently, 1.6 million children in Côte d’Ivoire are out of school. Thanks to Betronic’s contribution, more children can attend school.

‘Children are the future’ The collaboration is actually very self-evident, says Betronic CEO Jasper de Jonge. ‘We are often asked: what do you do for society? In addition to the fact that our products are often used in more sustainable products such as heat pumps and e-bikes, we provide an even better answer to this question with this campaign. By committing ourselves to UNICEF, we are part of a large organization that provides help to children on a global scale. As an employer, we believe that the development of children is important. If children are given the opportunity to develop, they can make the world a little better. With our annual contribution of 11,000 euros, UNICEF will be able to build a completely new classroom made of plastic building blocks.’
